Even though Doug E Fresh continually claims and even names himself "Original Human Beatbox", he is not the inventor of the art form. According to his own satement in an interview he started beatboxing in 1982, while Buffy, Tyte and Yoyobeats were already beatboxing in the 1970s. As far as influence is concerned The Fat Boys's popularity gained worldwide recognition with several singles, commercials, and even feature films etc. while Doug E Fresh was rather limited to the US market.
