In 1981 seven teenagers of about the same age namely Jimmy Cuever, Kevin Keenan ('Shareef'), James Moore, Mark Morales, Steve Thompson, Darren Robinson and Damon Wimbley were living on the same block on Schenck Avenue between Hegeman Avenue and New Lots Avenue. They had the idea to form a group and make music together, but circumstances had it that only three of them Mark Morales, Darren Robinson, Damon Wimbley would eventually form the group ''The Disco 3''. | |||
The Fat Boys were the first group to release a full a cappella track consisting only of [[beatboxing]] and [[rapping]].
